CFB Betting Predictions (Friday edition - 10/6)

 Welcome to Timerssports

It was a rough go around last night as I whipped on all three of my recommendations. Now, they weren't bad predictions when you look at the games as a whole. Liberty was too sloppy with the football, despite killing Sam Houston St in yards, it was not converting on 3rd down and silly mistakes that made it such a close contest. Their defense allowed too many easy throws, too. In the LA Tech and Western Kentucky game, I think LA Tech defense just got off to slow of a start. Western Kentucky had 3 long Touchdowns of over 50 yards because very sloppy tackling and thinking they go out of bounce they would get force to the sidelines. In the second half, Western Kentucky had two first downs and 0 points. They just came up a little short.

We will move onto Friday night and try to bounce back. The Friday night games have been very good to me overall. So I am hoping that trend continues and we can get back on track tonight. There are two College Football games on tonight and I am gonna break down both of them!

Kansas state vs Oklahoma state

Current line as of posting: -11.5/+11.5

I think people kinda forget how good Kansas state really is because of Texas and Oklahoma stealing the show. In wins this season, Kansas state has average roughly 40 points per game and won by multiple TDs in all three wins. Their lone loss? It was a ridiculous long FG by Missouri with a couple seconds left. It should be also noted that Missouri has a great defense and Kansas state still managed 27 points in that contest. Oklahoma state doesn't have a defense like that. When you are looking at Oklahoma state's schedule, their best two opponents has been Iowa State and South Alabama. They loss both of those games. Another reason to like Kansas state? They have a great run defense so Oklahoma would have to get in a shootout with Kansas state to stay pace. For a team being in the bottom 3 in scoring offense and total yards per game, I don't think that is wise. The Oklahoma state defense also ranked bottom half of the league so far in most categories as well.

End of the day, I don't think this Oklahoma state is very good on both side of the ball. I think Kansas state has the upper hand on both side of the ball and I fully expect them to go up double digits by halftime. It is hard seeing this game being a one or even two score game when it is all said and done! Take Kansas state and lay the points with them!

Recommendation - Kansas state -11.5 and up to -14

Nebraska vs Illinois

Current line as of posting: +3.5

Folks, this is gonna be an ugly one. I am personally not betting on this game because when two bad teams play like this then bad things will happen. I do believe the right play on this game is getting the points with Nebraska. I believe that for a couple reasons, frankly. I think Nebraska has the advantage up front in the trenches on both side of the ball. Neither team can pass, but I believe Nebraska has a bigger strength in running the football vs a bad run defense. I think that matchup will be key because if Nebraska are capable of running the football, I think the getting a FG and the hook is excellent value. What if they can't? Well, I think Nebraska has a lot bigger issues than I originally thought and I wasn't high on them to begin with.

I want to like Illinois here, but they have been maybe the biggest disappointment in the Big 10 this season. Considering this is a team that won 10 games a year ago. This is also team that expected to be a good defensive team once again and been god awful instead. I think that what made them so good in 2022, it was their defensive unit. It has taken a step back and this team cant move the ball on offense. They will look to run on early downs and pray they don't get into 3rd and long. They don't pass the ball well, but I think they are more capable than Nebraska. However, I think Nebraska is more capable of forcing them behind the chains than Illinois is

This could be ugly game and I rather have the points with Nebraska in this spot!

Recommendation - Nebraska +3.5

CFB/NFL Betting Predictions (Thursday Edition 10/5)

 Welcome to Timerssports

Happy Thursday, sports fans! For the next 7 weeks, there is football on every single day of the week! We all have an excellent chance to win a lot of money, but we also have to be smart about so we have enough money to bet everyday. There is a big difference in betting a couple times a week and 7 days a weeks for extended period time! The first day (yesterday), we got off a decent start. I put two units on Jacksonville st (+3.5) and then 1 unit on under 52. Jacksonville state came back and won by 45-30 after being down 23-7. However, the under didn't hit. I didn't love the under not cashing, but I ended up a little over half unit up for the night. So what should we do for day 2? It is hard to say since there is only a couple games on. I will give you my personal plays for each game. There are two College Football games on and one NFL game on. Let's dig in!

Liberty vs Sam Houston State

Current line as of posting: -20.5/+20.5

You know I originally thought making this my favorite play of the night, but I have since taken a step back. Not because I don't think this is a blowout. Because this game has the making of a complete utter manslaughter. Liberty has one of the best offenses in the nation and ranked in the top 10 in points per game and yards. They are number 2 in rushing offense to only Air Force. They rack up over 270 yards per game on the ground and still average over 200 yards through the air. They are lethal on offense and their defensive rankings are all very strong. Sam Houston State are dead last in points per game and only once topped double digits points in a game. That happened to be in their last game, where they went crazy for 28. As crazy as it sounds, that worried me. Now, do I think that was fluke? You bet your bottom dollar, I do. I think Liberty will roll Sam Houston State pretty good. Personally, I don't like backing heavy favorites though. So I won't have any money in this game, but I think there is a strong chance Liberty is up by at least two and a half touchdowns by halftime. Back Liberty on the spread at 20.5. I would go up to 21.0, if I had

Official recommendation: Liberty -20.5

Western Kentucky vs LA Tech

Current line as of posting: -6/+6

This will be the best game of the three and there are two plays that I actually would recommend, which would depend how you want to play it. Western Kentucky is the 6 points favorite in this matchup, which is fair since they are regarded as one of the top teams in CUSA. But are they? They have taken a noticeable step back this season compared to last season. Austin Reed is a stud at QB, but they aren't moving the ball as well as last season. He getting pressured at a lot high rate than a year ago and his WRs are dropping balls at a higher rate than a year ago. On other side, Western Kentucky defense has been inconsistent and hasn't been able to effectively stop the run. Their pass defense is still pretty decent, though. LA Tech isn't anything special, especially if the backup is playing again. That isn't why I like them in this matchup, though. They have excellent secondary and quite possibly one of the best outside of the Power 5. One thing about Western Kentucky this season is, they haven't fair well vs good secondaries. This will be one of those games. So do I think Western Kentucky win by a full touchdown? I don't and I also believe the total of 59.5 is way too high for this matchup based on things we have already discussed!

My official recommendation: LA Tech +6 (down to +5.5) or under 59.5 (down to 56.5)

Bears vs Commanders

Current line as of posting: -6/+6

I just want it to be known that I will not be playing anything on Thursday night football. Now, I do feel decent about the play that I am writing up about. However, I have zero interest in watching a game between the Bears and Commanders. That just sounds awful, the only people watching that game are those respected fanbases or sicko that bet on because they feel they need to bet on the NFL. Not me, though. However, if I were looking at an angle for this game. I think the spread for this game is a little too high overall. Look, the Bears suck. We all know that, but I don't personally think the Commanders are all that much better. At least not a full Touchdown better. I think Justin Fields will get loose in the opening field and be able to move the football. It also should be noted that teams that played Overtime on the previous Sunday, went 1-8 on the spread on Thursday night football. That is not a good number. I don't love the Commanders secondary, either. Justin Fields isn't a good passer, but as Denver showed us that bad secondaries can make even bad quarterbacks look good. Washington is better than Denver, but I think Fields will hit some plays and keep this game close enough. Remember this is the NFL, we don't see blowouts every game. I think this spread is simply too high

Official recommendation: Bears +6

Football Betting Predictions (Thursday September 28th)

 Welcome to Timerssports

Last week, it wasn't a bad week betting as Wednesday and Sunday were the only day in the dreaded red. On Monday, we hammered the Saints. On Tuesday, we cashed in on WNBA. Wednesday, well let's just say luck wasn't on our side. On Thursday, we attacked the Niners' spread and Georgia state's spread. Then Friday, we got healthy on Wisconsin and Air Force. Saturday, it was a mix bags of tricks. We scored with FSU (money line) and Army on the spread. A poor outcome with Ole Miss and Colordo both failing to cover as sizable dogs. However, we ended the night with Kansas state ML, Notre Dame +3.5 and New Mexico State +3.5. And let's not talk about Sunday that much because it was depressing overall outcome

So far this week it is looking another strong week! We hit on the Eagles on Monday, a pair of strong underdog spreads in WNBA on Tuesday and a nice win by the Marlins on Wednesday. Folks, if you have enough of money to work with, then all it takes is one or two bets and you are a couple units up for the day. With limited sports going on right now, there isn't much more we can ask for! So once again, we are gonna keep the bets to a limited until the weekend roll around. In fact, I have two football bets for tonight that you should consider!

NFL

Lions vs Packers

Current line as of posting: -1.5/+1.5

The vibe I have gotten this week about this game is everyone is expecting the Lions to blow out the Packers. Frankly, I might be in the minority here but I don't hate the Packers here. They bring a good defense with a quality pass rush and secondary. On offense, they are getting back Jones and Watson most likely. I think the speed of Watson and Jones effectiveness/flexibility to line up anywhere will be huge for the Packers. I think if Aaron Rodgers was still the QB in Green Bay, they would be the favored. I think in general, people don't want to admit that Jordan Love isn't bad at all. He has been inaccurate, but some of that is on the playcalling. Love is making his 5th career start on Thursday night, he got some things he need to work on. However, he is better than people want to give him credit for.

Lions have been one of the best feel good stories over the last couple years. I am a Packers fan and I want to see this Lions team do well. Just not when they play the Packers. They are a talented group. They have a consistent QB, a good running back room, a top 5 offensive line unit and playmakers all over the field. On defense side of the ball, they have been great at stopping the run and as always an underrated secondary group, too.

What side should we bet on, though? I want to say the Packers, I really do! But I don't think the Packers defense will get more stops than the Packers offense will make big plays. If this was end of the season, I would love the Packers' chance a lot more because I believe this Packers team will get better as the season goes on. Last week was a great example of them wasting away several chances for big time scores. The fact that they only scored 18 points is sad. They were in position to drop 30 on the Saints, but didn't. Give me the more experienced and capable offense!

Recommendation: Lions ML

CFB

Temple vs Tulsa

Current line as of posting: -3/+3

This will be an interesting game and honestly, I don't know if there is a clear side to be on here. Tulsa has been battle tested more early in the season. However, they love to run the football which is a problem. Unless you can stay ahead of the sticks and score often, then it is hard to trust a run-minded team. I think injury to their QB run has been deadly early in the season. As they are gonna have to rely on the run game until they are more healthy at the position!

Temple are the complete opposite, as they don't really run the ball well. They are a consistent pass-first offense that can move the football. I don't think they have been as good as we were expecting, though. I think many people were expecting them to take a bigger step forward with their offense. Much like Tulsa, they have a strength (pass game) going against Tulsa's pass defense (biggest weakness).

This matchup kinda reminds me a lot of last Friday night's game between San Jose state and Air Force. One team love running the ball and the other like doing it damage through the air. In theory, the rushing team would like to get up early and dominate the TOP (time of possession). Exactly what Air Force did in that game. Can Tulsa do that? I think they can cause huge problems for Temple's run defense, but they aren't on the Air Force level. And to me, that tells me if Tulsa can't dominate like that then it kinda favor Temple on the spread. Temple don't need points on each drive, but they do need to force Tulsa into 2nd and 3rd and longs. If Tulsa only get a couple yards on first or second down, then Tulsa will not cover this game.

Recommendation: Temple +3.5

CFB Betting and Predictions Week 4 (Friday Edition)

 Welcome to Timerssports

Football is back and so far it has been a crazy couple weeks of betting for your friend, Garry! Two weekends ago, I went 17-2 on my bets. Then last week it was a complete circus but betting on MLB middle of the week usually don't bodes well for your betting momentum. So I stood out of doing anything last weekend, minus betting Indiana +10 and Kansas st ML, which ended as you would thought *face palm*

This week has been much better, though. The mojo is back! Hit on Saints ML and Steelers (live) ML on Monday night. We came back on Tuesday to hit on WNBA with Washington Mystics +6.5 and Dallas Wings -6.5. Wednesday, we got off track by betting the Reds in the early afternoon. Good bet as Greene struckout 14 batters in the first 7 innings but it all ended south with the bullpen as they lost 4-3 somehow. Next up was the Rockies ML +135 (live). I normally stay away from bad teams, but MLB is exception. They led the entire game until the 8th inning. It wasn't a smart bet, but it was one they should have won. So I am fine with that outcome. The lynx was up next at 8 and it was one I do regret. As they lose by 15 to the Sun in the WNBA

As bettors, we are always looking to get our money back and that why Vegas loves us! Unless, we get hot and that exactly what happened next! First, I went Tigers/Dodgers under 8.5. Banger. Followed it up on Thursday with Brewers ML, as you would expect it was easy money. Then of course it was football on Thursday and it was an no doubter. As I placed 3 single bets on Georgia state spread of +7.5. I loved Georgia state so much I put a 4th one together with 49ers -9.5.

We are gonna try to keep the momentum going into Friday night and then onto Saturday massive slate of games! As a bettor, it doesn't get much better than this! There's a lot of good games on Saturday and we are gonna try to feast before NFL Sunday Week 3 starts. If we play our cards right, then we can have a really good weekend!

Let's roll into Week 4 betting predictions!

Wisconsin vs Purdue, 7 pm Friday

I don't love Wisconsin, I just don't. They have a great backfield and good blocking offensive line. But this new offense really haven't taken off as many were hyping them up to be under their new coach. Now, they are 2-1 which is good. But problem is, they have gotten off to poor starts in every single game this season. I think part of it is because their defense really hasn't lived up to the expectations, either. It is an all-around issue on both sides of the ball.

Purdue hasn't been good at all this season, especially on defense side of the ball. I am not concerned about the offense as they have been able to score points. That is not the problem here by any means. I do have a concern about them turning the ball over, though. If they lose the turnover battle on Friday night, I really don't give them much of a chance of winning this game. If they want to beat Badgers for the first time in last 17 games, then they will have to be perfect. They will need to create some turnovers and stop the run. Then be able to effective move the ball

Personally, I can't take Purdue in Friday's night game. Even on the spread, I think 5.5 is not enough points for me to feel comfortable. I think if you combine that with 16 straight losses to the Badgers, I don't want any part of the Boilermakers! Now, I don't want any part of Wisconsin on the spread, either. They haven't proven to me that they can trusted by any means. They will win this football game, but there is only one play I am comfortable with in this matchup!

Recommendation: Badgers Money Line

Air Force vs San Jose State, 10:30 pm Friday

This battle between these two teams are two teams that have scheduled their opponents vastly different so far. San Jose St picked a tougher schedule with the likes of USC and Oregon st in the first couple games, while Air Force have played the likes of Utah State and Robert Morris. So the question becomes, are we sure Air Force should be the favorites here? I think the answer is zero question! In betting, we look at three things. If they are the favorite, we look how they played lesser talented teams. In Air Force's case, they have dogwalked all 3 teams they played. Bad teams don't do that. Next, we look at the opponent. What do they do well and what do they don't well? Well, I think San Jose state has the best QB in their conference. Chevan Cordeiro is a fun and exciting player, overall I think he has done a fine job. Even with the tough schedule so far, I think he has done really well. I think the problem is San Jose state has allowed 175 rushing yards per game. That is a really big problem, though as Air Force is one of the nation's top rushing teams.

The third thing we look at is what does Air Force do well? There are two things that they will have advantage at in this game! The first (already mentioned) is that Air Force runs the ball extremely well. The second thing is they have a stellar defense. An defensive unit that performed very well in 2022 as well. So it isn't a fluke that the Falcons are looking sharp on defense side of the ball.  In betting, we know two things about this style of team. A run-first team is usually bad for unders and point spreads. In San Jose state's case, it is bad for their point spread. As Air Force will most likely drain the clock with the run game and limit the time that they have the ball. If this happens on Friday night, San Jose State will not cover this game.

Personally, I am going with Air Force on the spread in this one. I think San Jose state has a capable offense and has done well vs the spread. But problem is, I just can't see them getting enough chances to keep it at a touchdown game!

Recommendation: Air Force -6

2023 Fantasy Nascar DFS Targets and Fades (Cali)

 Welcome to Timerssports

If you play DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) games like FanDuel or DraftKings, then this is probably the article you are looking for as I will breakdown each week the drivers that I will be targeting and staying away from. It will make things more challenging this weekend as there was no practice and qualifying. I think it will be easier to get some value from some good drivers starting deep in the field and should move forward. With that said, there are some good drivers in the mid-price range that would be good options normally. However, if they are starting further up then their value goes down. Regardless, we have some nice plays for the weekend! Let's dig into targets and fades!

Targets -

Chase Elliott - While I am not super high on Elliott as a possible race winning contender, I think he will be a great addition in DFS games as he is probably one of the best top drivers to start outside of the top 30. With that said, everybody and their mother will have him in their lineups this weekend.

Kyle Larson - Larson will undoubtedly be one of the highest priced drivers this weekend at Cali, as he should with being the race defending winner. He is also starting 15th and should move up to the front and contend for the win. Larson is easily one of the most talented drivers in the field and ended 2022 very strong. I am very high on him for 2023 and I think he will contend for a lot of race wins, too.

Kyle Busch - Much like Kyle Larson, I think Kyle Busch will be very strong in 2023. He will start outside of the top 20 and much like the other target drivers, he will start deeper in the field. In 23 races at Cali, he has produced 16 Top 10 finishes. So the chances are he will finish in the top 10 again this weekend. When we pick drivers that start deeper in the field, we need them to finish in the top 10 at least. I think Busch have enough upside to do that and possibly much more. Don't over think this!

Fades -

Kevin Harvick - I think Harvick will finish just a few spots higher or lower than his starting position and that's a problem to me. To be a great DFS option, you must either gain a lot of positions or start up front and dominate. I don't think Harvick gonna challenge for a win and he starts too far up to be a good candidate to gain bunch of spots. Harvick is a easy candidate to avoid for me!

Alex Bowman - Some people might be on the Bowman wagon this weekend based on him domianting in 2020 here, but that's 3 seasons ago and he hasn't proven that he can consistently go out and lead laps at any given track. Bowman will start 4th and will likely head in the opposite direction. I say he might be able to hang around in back half of the top 10, but he is probably from there to a mid-teen driver. I don't buy into the hype with guy, I might if this was one of his teammates, though.

Ryan Blaney - Blaney has 3 traits as a driver (in my opinion) and has consistently displayed these traits time and time again. The first would be the ability to consistently inconsistent. If you played Fantasy Nascar enough, I am sure you have been burned number of times by him. His second trait would be being the most unlucky driver in the sport. And the 3rd would be a weekly race contender to only be fool gold by end of the race. They all kinda go hand and hand. I don't trust Blaney and frankly he starts too far up to be a strong DFS play anyways. Even if he didn't have those concerns, I would probably stay away because he kinda in DFS hell starting 9th. Doesn't really start up front, but not far enough back to have the PD value, either.

2023 Fantasy Nascar Analysis Breakdown (Cali)

 Welcome to Timerssports

We are back at it this weekend with some racing, but sadly it gonna be more challenging than we would like for us fantasy players. As both practice and qualifying has been cancelled, which means we are headed into Sunday's race pretty much blindfolded. We can take a guess on who will be strong and probably have a decent shot at being right based on 2022 results. But it will come with a little risk, but anything is a risk on any given race weekend. But we will solider on and try our best with the hand that we have been dealt with! As you can guess the point of this article is to breakdown the competition this weekend and it will basically be the Fantasy Nascar Update (one of our most popular posts for years) with just a different name to it!

Let's get rolling!

1. Joey Logano - Logano was in my top 3 headed into the weekend and it is hard to not put him at No.1, though. He was probably 2nd headed into the week for me (with Larson being No.1) and he will start a dozen spots higher than the 5. Logano has everything you could ask for in a fantasy pick, honestly. He's coming off a 2nd place finish at Daytona, he was really good on intermediate tracks in 2022 and has a solid history of finishing up front at Cali. Not to mention, he's the defending cup champion for a reason! When you combine his equipment, starting position and other numbers, I think you gotta put him as the odds on favorite to win on Sunday afternoon!

2. Kyle Larson - Larson is a great option this weekend and was in my view the odds on favorite headed into the weekend. He will start 15th and that kinda hurt him a little, but it don't mean he cant go up front and lead a lot of laps. Larson was extremely strong at end the season in 2022 on these intermediate tracks. Larson is a former winner here at Cali and is actually the defending race winner here, too. Larson is very capable of getting to the front and being one of the heavy favorites to win on Sunday! He might be the best play this weekend in DFS games, as he offers winning upside and some differential points. However, he will cost you top dollar money, no question! He will be worth it, though!

3. Martin Truex Jr - I am a lot higher on Truex Jr than most people probably are and I think he gonna be a contender here at Cali! I think in general, he is a great fantasy pick and won't cost quite as much in DFS games as the two mentioned above (I haven't looked at prices though). Truex Jr should have plenty of motivation this weekend and I loved what I saw from him a few weeks ago out in LA. Let's see if that speed will translate to the 2-mile fast track!

4. Kyle Busch - Busch is starting outside of the top 20, but I think he will be one of the guys at the front before it is over! He has been amazing here in his cup career. In 23 starts, he has produced 11 top 5 finishes and 16 Top 10 finishes. He seems to show up here with a very fast car almost every time and overall RCR isn't a real downgrade to me. They were fast last season with Reddick and I think that gonna be the same deal this weekend (and this season) with the new driver of the No.8 car

5. Denny Hamlin - Hamlin has been great at 2-mile tracks over the past couple seasons, as he has compiled 6.2 average finish at these large intermediate tracks since 2020. He also was pretty strong on intermediate tracks in general in 2022. I don't think Hamlin is getting the love that he should this weekend as there are so many interesting top options to pick from. He is someone with top 10 floor and top 5 (and more) upside. He is very capable to challenge for a top 5 finish and I be shocked if he wasn't up front at some point in the race!

6. Chase Elliott - I am honestly not super high on Elliott this weekend for whatever reason and I really don't know why besides starting very deep in the field. He has all the intangibles to be a top tier fantasy pick and will most likely be a top 10 finisher, if not more. He will probably be a very good DFS pick, but in generally I think he won't get to be anything more than a top 10 driver. He might challenge for a top 5, but my gut tells me no that he won't

7. Ross Chastain - I could probably put Ross higher on this list as I think he will have the speed to jump a couple of these guys. But if we learned anything about Mr. Chastain in 2022, then it is he's a true wildcard on the racetrack. Now, if I was certain that he had top 3 speed, then I would probably put him closer to that top 3. But with no practice or qualifying, I really don't know if I can totally trust him. So he is a little lower on my list than he would if he actually had cars on the track this weekend!

8. Christopher Bell - Bell is starting on the pole, but I don't think he is a very good DFS pick as he will likely fall from the race lead and only be a top 10 driver. At times in 2022, he showed off top 5 speed. However, if you use him in DFS, then you will need him to lead laps and finish in the top 3. I don't think he leads a chunk of the laps or finishes in the top 3. Again, there is no data for us to look at, but history says he will be a top 10 finisher. However, he will probably not be a race winning contender

9. William Byron - Willy B is one of the most interesting drivers over the past two seasons. He had a better 2021 season (than 2022), but the eye test says he was better in 2022. He did get more wins and finish higher in points in 2022. However, he was overall more consistent and had more top 5 (and top 10) finishes in 2021. Still, he was pretty good in both seasons and was really good on these intermediate tracks both seasons. He contended for wins a few times in 2022, too. It is hard to say if he will be capable of that this weekend, but I say he is at least in for a top 10 run on Sunday. Willy is a talented dude, so I say he upside to contend for a top 5. But as low as I got him, I personally don't believe that is likely for the No.24 car on Sunday.

10. Kevin Harvick - Harvick is a very interesting play this weekend, as he is making his 750th start. I think Harvick was okay last season, but SHR was down on speed in 2022 overall. So it will be interesting to see if those cars are back to par with the competition. I think in general, Harvick performance was down more a few of his teammates. We expect such a high standard from him with his time at SHR, and at times he was the 2nd or 3rd best SHR driver. I really want Harvick to be a viable fantasy option this season. I just don't know if we will see that same guy that can contend for wins, we might have to go back to settling for just top 10 finishes out of him. I kinda get the feeling that what we will be seeing out of Kevin Harvick

Just missed -

Ryan Blaney

2023 Fantasy Nascar Sleepers and Dark Horses (Cali)

Welcome to Timerssports

My friends this is the article that will make or break your fantasy lineup. Anyone can pick the studs, but finding that value is your fantasy nascar lineup is the key. But before we get to the fun stuff, it is time for my yearly rant about people misusing these terms. Make no mistake, both ''sleepers'' and ''dark horses'' certainly have similarities, but they aren't always interchangeable. Dark horse are drivers that could possibly challenge for a win, but we don't expect them to. Think of someone like Tyler Reddick the past couple seasons. We knew he had the talent, but we didn't expect him to win or challenge for the win. That's a perfect dark horse candidate. Sleeper? Well typecially we are speaking more in ''value'' than the overall potential. That value will change throughout the season, too. Michael McDowell is a great example of being a sleeper pick. He usually held that value because the market would always undervalue him which made him a great sleeper pick at back-end of your fantasy lineup. See the difference?

Sleepers -

Chase Briscoe - Briscoe is an interesting option this weekend. He ended 2022 season with 2 top 5 finishes in his final 3 races on intermediate tracks. He was a major plus for someone like him that was pretty inconsistent for the most part. He certainly had his moments and some of those moments came on the intermediate tracks, too. He posted 3 of his 6 top 5 finishes at Charlotte, Las Vegas and Texas. He also had top 16 runs at Atlanta (twice), Kansas and Dover. Starting to see why I am probably higher than most on him? He also finished 16th at Cali last season and led 20 laps. There will be a market for Chase Briscoe on these intermediate tracks because he will be undervalue. Now, some weeks there will be less value than others, but he is one driver to keep an eye a nice sleeper play to sneak into your lineup!

Austin Dillon - You could put him more as a dark horse pick, but I don't really view him that way yet because he really hasn't proven that he can hang more towards the front as oppose to the teens where he will likely be more times than not. With Dillon, you have to use him where he is a strength. He loves these fast tracks, more specifically he love these big fast tracks like Cali and Michigan. I remember back at Michigan in 2016, I was listening to the radio and they had a interview with him confessing his love for big fast tracks. Cali fits the type and he was a top 15 performer in 2022! In 2022 at Cali, he finished 2nd here at Cali. He finished 13th at Michigan. With the addition of Kyle Busch, I think Austin Dillon and RCR can get to that next level. At some point this season, we might be viewing him as a dark horse. He is really good here at Cali, too. If you are looking to sneak a fantasy pick into your lineup that has a high floor and high ceiling, but probably be overlooked a little? Austin Dillon just might be your secret weapon this weekend

Dark Horses -

William Byron - I been a big believer in Willy B the last couple seasons and I honestly thought from the eye test that he had his best season in his cup career. But his overall numbers were a little better in 2021. Of course, he went 13 straight races (from Homestead to Charlotte) in 2021 with top 11 finishes. Then added a few more top 5 finishes in the month of June before falling off a little in 2021. He ended the year pretty strong, though. As he posted 4 Top 11 finishes in the final 5 races. In 2022, he was also very strong. He had less top 5s, top 10s, etc and a weaker average finish. However, he also led more laps and posted more wins. Also two wins in first 10 races, he fell off again middle portion of the season. But he was stronger to end the season, though. As he finished in the top 13 in the final 9 of 10 races. Like his teammates, Willy B will have advantage of some of his competitors at these fast tracks.

Erik Jones - He wouldn't been someone that I put as a dark horse a year ago, but he was great last season with the No.43 car! Simply amazing and beat any expectations that I had for him and that team. We all knew that Erik was a talented dude and that was clear way back before he even got to cup. I think it took him leaving JGR for us to realize that this guy is waaaaay more talented than we remember. And that is no shot at Erik because anyone can drive a top tier car to the front, it takes someone special to do it with something less. He won at Darlington, that was the standout race for him. But he was strong on these intermediate and I make a case it was the strength of this time. He was a top 15 performer often, but it wasn't until 2nd half of the season, where we are going like, ''okay this team is onto something''. He won at Darlington, then followed it with some top 10 runs at Las Vegas and Texas. Prior to his win at Darlington, he also a 8th place run at Michigan in August and a top 10 run at Atlanta. What makes me super excited about him this weekend? His 3rd place showing last year at this track. He was super competitive in that race and held a stout driver rating throughout the event. He also finished 8th at it's sister track at Michigan! I wouldn't bet against him getting another top 10 finish this weekend and possibly more!

2023 Fantasy Nascar Picks (Cali)

 Welcome to Timerssports

Last week, I simply made a post on drivers I liked and didn't like very much which isn't typically how I make my fantasy picks article overall. I usually post my fantasy picks from games that I play. But I work night shift and I haven't really looked at my lineups yet at time of posting of the article. So I just did my research and picked 8 drivers to write on. That will not be the case this week for Cali. I will make picks for the Driver Group Game (my personal favorite game) and Draft Kings lineup as well. Those are probably the only games I am playing this year. In other articles this weekend, I will breakdown drivers that I would be targeting and fading. I hope to add a few other articles to the site this weekend, too. This gonna be a big weekend for Timerssports. As for this post, I will likely just add the Driver Group Game (DGG) picks for now and come back on Sunday morning and add the DK lineup picks to this post. It's exciting times as we are ''really'' about to kick things into high gear for the 2023 season!

DGG Picks:

A -

Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson

Reasons - It's a new season, so I can't really say how to attack the new upcoming season on the first intermediate track. Hamlin has posted 6.3 average finish over his last 6 races on 2-mile tracks, so for now he is in my lineup. Kyle Larson is swinging 50% in his career for finishing in the top 5 at Cali and won this race a year ago. They didn't race here in 2021 and CGR was down on speed when they visited in 2019 and 2020. I don't think Larson and 5 car actually figured their car out until 2nd half of the race in 2022 when they won. If that 5 car unloads fast, I think the field should be very concerned. This is a very-like Kyle Larson track.

B:

Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, Austin Dillon and Erik Jones

Reasons - This is a crazy loaded tier where I am not concerned at all about picks. This tier has the 2,3,4,8,19,23,42,45,48 and list goes on. There are enough choices in this tier that it should not be a major concern like the C-list tier. With that said, I had 4 guys at first that I will use 7-9 times. But after doing a little thinking, I changed my selection up a little. I am still going with Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. Now for whatever reason that one of them look off in practice/qualifying, then I got two backup plans that should be a nice start-save option. Austin Dillon loves these big fast tracks and performed well at them in 2022. Erik Jones was very good at these type of track and finished 3rd here in 2022. Thinking outside of the box a little for this first race.

C:

AJ Dinger and Ryan Preece

Reasons - This is interesting tier as we need 4 drivers to use 9 starts apiece from. Personally I will use 3 in this tier (Gibbs, Dinger and Preece or Gragson) most likely and get 9 starts elsewhere at Daytona, Talladega, road courses, etc. So my plan this weekend is to roll with Dinger and pair him with someone that could possibly get a start-save with. Preece is no bum. I believe Gibbs is top choice in this tier, then it goes probably Dinger then there a gap to Gragson and Preece. I think that gap could be a lot smaller than we think, though.

Draft Kings Picks - TBD

2023 Fantasy Nascar Picks (Daytona 500)

Welcome to Timerssports

About 10 years ago to the date (maybe a little more or less), I was preparing content for the 2013 season and the 2013 Daytona 500! That was believe it or not a full decade ago! It's really crazy how fast times fly by, but here we are entering the 2023 season. I am very disappointed in myself for not being able to produce much content the last few years, but I really hope to be better on that in 2023! I think what makes this website so popular is my content will always be free to my loyal readers. Now, that isn't a shot at any sites out that charges their readers for their content, as there are some amazing Fantasy Nascar website out there and I would recommend checking some of them out. But to me, that what always been an appealing factor to people. The fire content on here certainly helps out as well!

Onto to more important issues, though. Such as today's picks for the Daytona 500! I really debated if I were gonna post any content this weekend because Daytona and Talladega are such crapshoot! But with working night shift and having to be awake, I figured why not! With that being said, anyone says they know what gonna happen is lying to you. So how do we go about making picks? We look at past data and trends like we do at any other track. While the race will be unpredictable, there are certain drivers that run well enough consistently to avoid bad luck! We are gonna need some good luck today, but it never hurt to select a few drivers that know how to race these kind of races. That should be the plan for today for success! Folks, we grab some coffee (or beer in my case) and let's roll into 2023 season!

5 drivers to target:

Austin Cindric - Folks, he's a freaking stud here at Daytona! It don't matter the series, he has a knack for running well at places like this and trust me it's a talent. Some guys are really good in the draft and Austin qualifies as one of them. In his short sample cup career, he has 6.3 average finish at Daytona with 2 Top 5 (1 win - last year Daytona 500) finishes already. Since 2020, he also holds the best driver rating of 93.4 at Daytona. In 5 career starts at Daytona and Talladega, he has produced 3 top 10 finishes and 5 top 21 finishes. In 3 starts at Daytona, he has finishes of 1st, 3rd and 15th.

Ryan Blaney - Blaney is one of those guys that will make or break your lineups most likely! He will likely finish in the top 10 or wreck out. Almost every time we come to Daytona or Talladega, that what it seems like we are getting from him. In his last 12 starts on superspeedway tracks, he has produced an 10.1 average finish with 7 top 10 finishes. That is the highest average finish and most top 10 finishes among drivers whom started every race since 2020.

Bubba Wallace Jr - Bubba Wallace has a knack for running up front at these races and while he don't always finish in the top 5, he also has a knack for having a safe floor as well. As fantasy players, we LOVE that. In his last 12 races at Daytona and Talladega, he has compiled a whopping 11(!) Top 20 finishes with 4 of them ending in the top 5. So he isn't always finishing up front, but he probably won't kill your fantasy lineup either, though.

Austin Dillon - Austin Dillon always has loved Daytona, I don't know what it is about this place that brings out the best in him. He won here last August, but he has a history of being really good at the Daytona 500 from a consistency standpoint overall. He finished 25th in last season's Daytona 500 and that is his worst career finish at this event (since being in the #3 car). In 2014, he finished 9th. After that? 14th, 9th, 19th, 1st, 16th, 12th and 17th. So even when he doesn't finish up in the top 10, he is still giving you some consistency with his incredible high upside

Chase Elliott - Elliott been hit or miss in his career on superspeedways, but at Daytona it been a hit lately. In 4 of his last 5 races here at Daytona, he has compiled top 10 finishes. He is a great drafter and usually we will find him at the front. I think the downside to picking Elliott is almost everyone will be picking him as he is one of the most popular picks this weekend. With that said, if he wrecks then you are pretty safe as everyone else will go down as well. There is not much to really hate about Elliott this weekend. If you are in a limited start league, then I might pass on him, though as he holds more value in next 35 races.

3 drivers I would avoid:

Denny Hamlin - I am sure Hamlin will be a popular pick this weekend, but I am here to tell you that Hamlin is a great drafter and went on an amazing run for 3-4 years at these type of tracks, but lately it hasn't been a fun time with Hamlin. In 5 of his last 7 races, he has finished 13th or worse. In 4 of those races, he has finished 18th or worse. In that same span, he has only produced one top 5 finish. Over Denny's last 3 Daytona races in that span, he has finishes of 13th, 25th and 37th. He is an amazing talent and I think he is capable of winning this event, but personally I might just back off him this weekend with his recent trend of bad luck at these events

Brad Keselowski - Another big name driver that has kinda stunk up the stats sheets (terms of final finishes) and while final finishes isn't everything. It is something, as certain drivers has a knack for finding bad luck. Brad Keselowski is one of the most aggressive drivers in the series and that is a big problem because he is too aggressive sometimes. Would it surprise you that Brad only has 4 top 10 finishes in his last 20 races at either Daytona or Talladega? In 4 of his last 6 races overall has ended in 23rd or worse. In his last 7 races at Daytona, he has produced 4 finishes of 35th or worse. Not saying we will see Brad be in a big wreck, but the numbers say it is likely!

Joey Logano - Logano find himself in the thick of things very often, but he also find himself not finishing these events because he pushes the issues far too often. Need proof? In 11 of his last 12 races at superspeedway races, he has failed to finish in the top 10. He has just one top 10 finish and that was a 3rd at Talladega a few years ago. Going back to Daytona 2018, Joey has finished outside of the top 10 in 8 of 9 races. While 5 of those 9 races ended outside of the top 20 as well. There are better options this weekend!

Hopefully my thoughts are helpful with your picks today! Best of luck everyone!

Thanks for reading,

2022 Fantasy Nascar DFS Picks and Fades

 Welcome to Timerssports

I thought last week was a really tough week to make picks at Auto Club because all of the unknowns and wrecks that occurred in practice/qualifying. So if you did poorly in DFS games, then you probably weren't alone. Your mindset in DFS always have to be short because you can suck one week and be awesome the next. How about this weekend? Who should you have your eyes on? Who are the top picks? How about who you should fade and stay away from? Excellent question and I have some answers to those questions!

DFS top picks -

Kyle Larson - Kyle Larson has a fast car this weekend and should have a chance to lead laps in the early going. In practice, it looked like he had the best car. He had a little fall off after awhile, but it really not enough for me to be too worried. Especially with his team putting out those amazing pit stops. The No.5 driver is great at restarts and that is important here at Vegas with passing being tough. Larson has a massive pricetag, but if he leads a lot and finish in the top 3, then it be more than worth it!

William Byron - I really like Byron this weekend and he has a very fast car. He was a lock for all my lineups soon as he qualified outside of the top 10. He has a real chance to finish in the top 5 and gain a handful of PD points. That what you want in DFS, a driver that has a chance with PD points and finish at least in the top 10. Don't go with a driver because he will gain bunch of positions, it is worthless without him finishing in the top 5 or top 10. Byron has tons of upside this weekend

Kyle Busch - I don't know much I love Kyle Busch this weekend, but he is starting 37th and will likely finish in the top 10. It is hard to say though because he has zero laps in this car and we don't know how well this car will hold up. But if he stay on the lead lap, then he gonna be an easy pick this week.

Ryan Blaney - Another driver that starts pretty high up that I really like. He has shown speed this weekend and has a great track record. I wouldn't be overlooking Blaney at all this weekend. Vegas is a great track for him and Penske has a knack for winning at this place over the past 10 years. I have a really good feeling about him overall.

Joey Logano - Like his teammate, I am pretty high on Logano. These Penske cars are pretty good once again this weekend. Logano has a pricey pricetag, but I think he is more than worth it. I think he is a very nice option, if you are looking for a cheaper top guy than someone like Kyle Larson. Long as Larson don't lead like 150 or 200 laps, then you should be fine.

Tyler Reddick - I think Reddick gonna be very good once again today and finish somewhere in the top 10. I like that a lot because I only see a couple guys coming from deep in the field and that should make him a great option when considering his price to other guys starting up front. I like maybe 3-4 guys outside of the top 10 more than i do Reddick

Kurt Busch - I don't really love Kurt Busch, but he is starting 31st and he will likely finish in the top 20 (if not better). I don't know what up with this team, but they have gotten off to a shitty start this season. But Kurt is a talented driver still and he should be able to advance at least 12 spots. I don't like going with drivers just because of PD points, but Kurt will likely be a lot closer to top 10 than he is to the top 20. Really, it all depends how your lineup is made up as well.

Fades -

Christopher Bell - I think Bell either gonna stay up in the top 5 all day or end up fading to latter part of the top 10. I don't hate Bell, but I just dont see him staying up front and put him as a disadvantage in DFS compared to guys that start further in the top 10 or just outside of the top 10. Straight up, yeah I say he is a top 5 to top 10 driver in terms of speed. But we always gotta factor in other things like consistency, trust, etc and I don't trust him far as I can throw him. He certainly could break even today as a DFS option, but I think there are better choices in the price range, though.

Kevin Harvick - Harvick is starting 25th, so ideally he should be a great fantasy pick? I think most people would say that but I don't know after watch last week's race, though. I was very impressed and he hasn't blown me away this weekend yet. He did run a lot of laps in practice, but I just don't know if his pricetag will warrant selection. Really, I wouldn't even call this a fade because he is not a bad play. He is probably a good play, but I am just not expecting him to max out his value this weekend. So more of a warning?

Martin Truex Jr - It may seem like I am picking on the Gibbs cars, but I am really not. So far, I am not very high on them. Bell is the only one that has shown legit speed and I have concerns about him. Truex Jr been meh all weekend in my opinion. It was same thing last weekend as well. That is probably the bigger reason why I am lower on him than normal because the Gibbs cars really weren't that good at Auto club, either. I would stay away from the Gibbs cars until we get a better idea about them overall

2022 Fantasy Nascar Sleepers & Dark Horses (Vegas)

Welcome to Timerssports

Sleepers and Dark Horses can make or break your lineups. Like last week at Auto Club, I was high on Reddick. I knew it was his type of track and I knew he would be off people radars, so I gambled on him. He goes out and leads over 200 laps, but wrecks. We call that an calculated gamble in fantasy sports. I have played Fantasy Nascar for a long time and I have certainly lost a lot more times than I have won. Sometimes, it is because my gambles don't pay off and sometimes it is because I just have stupid dumb luck. Back if you nail picks that nobody else thinking about then you are gonna be money.

From my own personal expereince, I remember an instance back in 2013. I believe it was Pocono (August race) and Jimmie Johnson started on the pole. This was when Yahoo was at it peak and we would have easy 100K-200K people playing. Anyways, 70% of the players had the pole sitter (as did I) as one of their A-drivers. So you don't bench the pole sitter, right? Well, I end benching him because I was deep in the hole in my league. I benched him for his  teammate (Kasey Kahne) whom hasn't won in well over a year started 20th. Johnson started from the pole and led basically every lap up to that point. Yeah, things aren't looking pretty. Then, after a pit stop, the 48 crew didn't get all the lugnuts tight. The No.48 car had to make an extra pit stop and he would go a lap down. At that same time, Kasey Kahne would gamble and stay out until a yellow came out. Kasey Kahne would end up leading rest of that event and winning. Kahne end up winning and I had 3 picks in the top 5. That's a prime example why sometimes it is worth to gamble on these lesser drivers.

But let's not kid ourselves here, that was a one in a millon shot that would likely never happen again. What we saw with Reddick at Auto Club had a chance to be something special, but that why it is important for us to look for sleepers and dark horses each week. Now, I am not saying you should take a risk on them every time, no. 9 years ago, when I gambled on Kahne, I would do those dumb plays pretty often. As the years goes by, I have learned to be more selective. The more risky the pick, the more the reward could be, but 9 times out of 10, I wouldn't try going for a homerun on a ball that will likely only be at best a double.

Okay I have talked enough, let's get into some fantasy picks for the weekend!

Sleepers -

Daniel Hemric - He was excellent last week and scored a top 10 finish. Even though, he was 6 laps down at one point. He was strong all weekend and guess what? He is showing a lot of similar speed this weekend as well. I bet he could finish in the top 20 again this weekend, too. He will be starting 16th and showed some speed again on Saturday. He was 8th on the 5 and 10 lap averages, then he was 6th on the 15-lap average chart. If he can once again have that speed translate, then I love this pick. He certainly a value pick this weekend and should be on everyone's radar as a possible sleeper pick

Daniel Suarez - There really wasn't any sleepers that I love when looking at practice and qualifying, but Suarez is someone that I really like, though. He is starting from 21st and should be able to squeeze into the top 20 and probably stay there most of the day. He is not that fancy pick that gonna put you over the top, but he is a quality fantasy option that will give you an chance to load up on heavy hitter at top of your lineups. The difference between him and other guys in his price range in DFS is he will most certainly finish in the top 20. Other guys? Not so much

Dark Horses -

William Byron - I am probably higher on Byron than I have been in his cup career, I think he has a car that is good enough to challenge for the win and possibly be the car to beat. He was very strong in practice, so I don't know what exactly happened in qualifying. He should had been better than 13th, but that makes him a great fantasy option in DFS. Watch out for the No.24 car today because he gonna be someone to reckon with I believe!

Tyler Reddick - Even after that performance last week, I think people are still down on him and I can understand why. I don't trust him, so I think people will stay away from him some this weekend. I don't hate him and I kinda hope he does better than I have him ranked. I placed him 9th place in my race rankings. Which, I think is very fair. I say his likely finish range is 7th-11th. If he can get 6th or higher than I say that is all gravy. His speed was very good in practice and was around 6th on the lap average charts. Reddick has enough upside where you should probably consider him in a few of your lineups!

2022 Fantasy Nascar Weekend Breakdown (Vegas 1)

 Welcome to Timerssports

For several years, Jeff Nathans had an article here at Timerssports and that piece was called ''Fantasy Nascar Update''. I am taking over that piece, but I want to make it my own. So I have decided to rename it, but it will be the same concept, though. I am gonna look at the top 10 drivers for the weekend and breakdown their chances and give my personal opinions on each driver. I do appericate Nascar giving the drivers a short practice session each week, but the data is still small. I hope in the future, they will give them multiple practice sessions again. I miss those days where we will see two practice sessions and qualifying as well. I am also very interested in how much last week's results will translate into this week? Will we see as many spins and/or tire issues? Will some of the surprise teams keep going strong? Will the expected strong teams be able to rebound? Folks, we are gonna find out very soon!

1. Kyle Larson - Folks, it wasn't what we expected from Kyle Larson for about 80% of the event. He was good, but he wasn't race winning good. Idk, if it was a combination of drivers crashing or his team getting him better as race went on, but Larson had the best car for those final 50 laps. As for this weekend, he has one of the best cars (in my opinion) on Saturday. He will start 2nd on Sunday afternoon. I believe that Larson is the odds on favorite to win and it comes on an intermediate track. He is tough to beat on these tracks in 2021 and I think he will be very tough to beat this weekend. He isn't starting 13th like he did last week, he is starting from 2nd. I think you should be worried, if you are thinking about betting against him.

2. Chase Elliott - Elliott looks really good once again this weekend and will start in the top 5. I really loved what I saw last weekend from the Hendrick cars and I feel the same way from the speed from them again. This is the type of track that they perform the best on. Everything we have seen the past two weekends say the Hendrick cars should be the heavy favorites again, and so far this weekend at Vegas that has been the case.

3. Ryan Blaney - Even dating back to his days at the Wood brothers, Ryan Blaney has been great at Vegas. Every time he comes here, he seems to be very good. Bad sign for the competition? He was fast off the truck and he has displayed some very good long run speed in practice. Combine that with a strong showing at Auto Club and a great track record in recent years? He should be employed in every kind of format. You know how you know you should trust him? I am not very often super high on Blaney, but folks I am very high on him. That alone should tell you something!

4. Christopher Bell - Bell is starting from the pole and was higher on the 10 and 15 lap averages in practice than the drivers above him, but I don't really trust Bell that much. But he is very strong this weekend, though. He is starting from the pole and looks by far the best Gibbs car. Which is odd because I would had expected his teammates to be stronger than him. Then again, he looked top 5 good in practice at Auto Club and was a teen-like driver all race long. I think Bell could be a make or break to fantasy lineups. You play him and he flops? You are screwed. You play him and he kills it? You are sitting pretty. Practice data says, he is a top 5 driver. If he can lead laps and finish in the top 5, then I say he is worth gambling on. I think that is the most likely thing to happen

5. Joey Logano - Logano, like his teammate, he is looking pretty fast this weekend. Much like last weekend, he is showing top 5 speed. Vegas has always been a good track for Penske and I would gladly take a shot with him this weekend. I think Logano might be a little under the radar overall and be a very good option to go off-sequence with. Clearly a lot of people will be on the Larson bandwagon and probably all the Hendrick cars. Same with his teammate, Ryan Blaney, but don't overlook the No.22 driver. He will likely mix it up in the top 5 and contend for the win.

6. Denny Hamlin - You know I am not very high on Hamlin and I could drop him a few spots, if I wanted to. But I am gonna give him benefit of the doubt and believe he gonna race better. With that said, he didn't many any real long runs. He did enough long runs to appear on the 10-lap average, but he was only 11th fastest, though. A lot like last weekend, I wasn't super impressed by him in practice on the longer runs in practice. I think he will be somewhere in the top 10. I say somewhere between 6th and 8th most likely. He isn't a bad option, but I don't think I would play him in DFS, though.

7. William Byron - I have  trust issues with Byron sometimes and for that reason, I have him lower than I should. In terms of speed, he was awesome last week and should had contended for a race win. However, he got caught up in someone's else mess. But he is looking just as strong this weekend. He probably had the best long run speed in practice, when we look at the averages. Like I said these Hendrick cars are really good this weekend.

8. Kyle Busch - Hard to say how good Busch is this weekend because he wrecked his primary car in practice and using a backup car. Sounds like that car was suppose to be a ''parts car'' for Joe Gibbs Racing. Yeah it is not very ideal for Rowdy, but guessing his team been working effortlessly all weekend to get ready for today's race. So I couldn't tell you what to expect from him, but he gonna be one of the top picks this weekend by far in DFS. He gonna be an awesome play, if he can finish in the top 10. Honestly, I am not sure if he is playable (outside of DFS).

9. Tyler Reddick - I was pretty high on Reddick last weekend, but man did he surprise me! He was by far the best driver at Auto Club, but he didn't get that fairy tale ending that he deserved! I don't think he looked as strong this weekend so far, but he didn't look like that in practice, either. I think these are two completely different tracks. I think one of the reasons that i loved him so much last weekend was because it was his type of track. Vegas is a different animal and you really don't have a chance to stay up against the wall to find that extra speed. So I think he will be top 10 good, I just don't see him being a possible race winning driver.

10. Alex Bowman - I say Bowman the slowest of the Hendrick cars but he has top 10 upside to him, so I would gladly gamble on him this weekend at Vegas. He was pretty decent on the lap averages, though. I think he is also starting further back among the Hendrick cars, too. So he could be a solid fantasy option in DFS, if you are looking for PD points. But for his price tag, I wish I had more faith in him for being a top 5 finisher. I just don't see it. I feel good about that, so if you good with that then I say go with him.

2022 Fantasy Nascar Preview (Auto Club)

Welcome to Timerssports

Well folks, I am gonna give it a go and try to bring back a weekly Fantasy Nascar Preview. This was our most popular feature article from 2014 through 2018 when Jeff Nathans would write it up pretty regularly. I think the biggest reason that he stopped doing it was because it was very time consuming and was pointless to post if you didn't finish it until mid-week. Especially when there was no practice and qualifying. I am gonna try my very best to get it done by Monday afternoon/evening every week. But sometimes I will just skip a week, but I will do my best to give a heads up.

Auto Club is really the first real test of the season. We really don't have much to go on and we are kinda playing a guessing game here. Kinda like we did last season every week, but at least we had race data. I guess we could go back and look at the clash, but I wouldn't recommend doing that. This will be the final race held at the 2.0 mile track. So many good memories growing up watching races held at this track. Three memories will always stand to me. First would be Tony Stewart wanna to beat up Joey Logano after a race for blocking him. The second would be Joey Logano putting Denny Hamlin into the wall and knocking him out of action for several weeks. And the third would be the incredible run Kyle Larson had his rookie season and finishing 2nd. That was when we ALL knew Kyle Larson had arrived and frankly a lot of us knew he was legit before that race

Again this is gonna be a challenging race to pick for because we have no clue what to expect with this new car. However, I am gonna do my best breaking each driver down. So let's get started!

1-Ross Chastain: Ross went from racing for CGR the last few years to racing for Trackhouse in 2022. In case, you haven't been following the storylines. Trackhouse bought out CGR and tabbed Ross as their second driver to Daniel Suarez. It is really hard to judge how Ross will do this upcoming season. I would assume have similar results to 2021 though. He had some okay runs last season in the #42 car, but he never jumped off the page enough to contend for wins. He posted 3 top 5 and 8 top 10 finishes in 36 races. Not bad, but he also only finished on the lead lap 20 times. So 16 other races, he ended up finishing a lap down (or off the lead lap). Ross was just another guy riding around in 2021, can Trackhouse get him over that hump and contend more often in the top 10? This weekend at Auto Club might be telling how his season unfolds.

3-Austin Dillon: I was probably one of the few people that was actually high on RCR headed in 2021 and they made me look pretty good. Austin Dillon was a lot better than I expected though. He didn't win a race or make the playoffs. But he had his most complete season. Not career highs in anything, except his average finish. He had his highest average finish for a 36-race season at 14.4. His previous high was 15.8 in 2016. From there it was in the 16th-19th place range. I think my biggest issue with Dillon in his career has been consistency because that the only way he would offer value. And that no hate on Dillon, but he doesn't have the driving talent or equipment to have enough upside to challenge on weekly basis for wins and top 5s. So for him to put together a consistent season was a huge step in the right direction. Can he keep it going in 2022? Time will tell. He will likely be a top 10 to top 15 guy at Auto Club. He has had top 10 runs in the past. In 4 of his first career 6 races here, he finished either 10th or 11th. I started him the last race here (2020), he ran top 10 most of the day and was around 9th or 10th with a couple laps to go. A caution for Kyle Busch came out, then they had pit gun break on a pit stop. He finished 24th because of that. He is a very underrated here. Looking for a sneaky pick? Austin Dillon might be that cheap value guy!

4-Kevin Harvick: I am not super high on Kevin Harvick in 2022, if I am being honest. Or any of the Haas guys. I think they will again have their share of struggles. Harvick will be the best driver, so if Haas goes to victory lane it should be betted on Harvick. Auto Club is a good track for him. In 4 of his last 6 races here, he has finished in the top 9. Including 3 top 5 finishes. He finished 35th and 13th in other races. He obviously had issues in those races. In 2017, he had rough race. He got nose damage in early stages of the race that affected his handling for rest of the event. Not long after that damage, he also had a tire go down. He rebounded from all that and finished 13th. In 2018, he was top 5 good but him and Kyle Larson got into it. Harvick was the one that ended up with the major damage, though. I say Harvick will be good for a top 10 finish, but I don't know if I would be banking on anything beyond that.

5-Kyle Larson: Auto Club been a good track for Larson. He has always been good here and is clearly a stud on these fast tracks. If Hendrick is strong again on these intermediate tracks, then you should expect Kyle Larson to be one of the heavy favorites headed into the event. At Auto Club, he finished top 2 in 3 of his first 5 starts at this track. His last two races at Auto Club haven't been that good, though. He finished 12th in 2019 and 21st in 2020. I don't think CGR was that good overall in either of those races. I think CGR was down on speed early in 2019 and didn't get rolling until later in the season. In 2020, he only was able to race in the first 4 races. So it is hard to say how good Larson could had been overall. With that said, neither of those races really matter because he is driving for Hendrick and they are clearly a lot better than what CGR was when Larson was there. As for this weekend, I think Larson has to be viewed a top 5 guy with enough upside to win!

6-Brad Keselowski: I won't do a deep dive on Keselowski, but I don't think Keselowski will be very good this season or in the next few seasons. I think Keselowski is thinking more about his post-racing career than his actual racing career. Going to Roush will probably handicap him for the years to come because this team is in a bad way right now. They aren't very good and I doubt the addition of him will change them in a hurry. He might run a little better than Ryan Newman did, but I don't think it was a driver problem the last couple seasons. And based off what I saw at the Clash, I am not thrilled about what could be expected out of the No.6 team this upcoming season. If you are smart, I would avoid him until he shows us a reason to trust him. Keslowski is no longer the guy that drives for Penske and that should be alarming.

8-Tyler Reddick: I love watching Reddick drive a racecar because he can do things that other guys can't. He wasn't as consistent as Austin Dillon, but I am glad he isn't because I don't think he would sniff wins. He might from time to time, if he drove more like Austin Dillon. But I think Reddick driving style gives him a shot at wins more often. Reddick has a lot of Kyle Larson in him. Like Larson, he started his career for a lesser team. RCR will likely only take him so far and the rest is on his shoulders. We saw last season that he is capable of running in the top 5 at his best tracks. Not just run top 5, but challenge for wins. I also think that what get him in trouble. Reddick sometimes will overdrive his equipment and that usually when get into some hot water. Auto Club is one of those tracks that I think he have a great run at. If RCR has the speed, I think Reddick is a great dark horse pick for 2022!

9-Chase Elliott: Elliott had an awesome 2021 season, but he was overlooked sometimes because how good his teammate was. Larson was the star, but Elliott was no bum, though. Elliott won 2 times and finished in the top 5 a total of 15 times. Really, he was just as good in 2021 as he was his championship season in 2020. His wins dropped from 5 to 2. But his top 5 dropped from 22 to only 21, his top 10 went from 22 to 21. He did, however, improve his average finish from 11.7 to 11.4. He did have a great season, but it just wasn't his season in 2021. I think Auto Club 2016 was when I knew Elliott could be that guy one day. We all knew he was really good in the lower series. I was watching Auto Club in 2016 and I was watching the lap times. I started to watch the lap times and this rookie in the #24 car just kept clicking off smooth lap after smooth lap. Then I started to watch him in the race this kid is running top 10 and he is doing it effortlessly, too. He reminded me of Kyle Larson, who came on the cup scene a few seasons prior. Guys like that are a rare breed because not every rookie has IT, but you know the guys that do. So what to expect from him this weekend? A lot like Larson, he should be top 5 good, if Hendrick is fast again on these intermediate tracks in 2022.

11-Denny Hamlin: Hamlin was great in 2021 and he probably was the 2nd-best driver for the season. I think he was more consistent than Larson for the first 18 races, but Larson went on a tear where it didn't matter. Larson was obviously quicker more often, but Hamlin just didn't have many bad races. I think that what gave him the point lead for most of the regular season. Auto Club really haven't been a great place for him, but Gibbs should have a horsepower advantage over a lot of the competition. I think Hamlin is a very decent fantasy option for this weekend, but I don't love him. Especially when I look at other drivers in his range. If he can deliver a top 3-4 finish, then yeah I take him. But is he is capable of winning? I don't know. There are so many questions headed into this weekend race. We really have no clue what this new car will truly bring

12-Ryan Blaney: Blaney had a nice 2021 season, but like always he was inconsistent. That is my thing with Blaney, he is too inconsistent to be considered a reliable fantasy option on a weekly basis. He is very good equipment, so he is worth considering on a weekly basis. But he shouldn't be on your radar in Daily Fantasy games, though. His price tag probably won't be worth the risk that comes with him. In season long games, I might take a shot with him at his best tracks. That if, Penske is on par with the competition in the speed department. I think that will be key. We saw these Penske Fords fall off as the season went on in 2021. They were top 10 good most weeks, but we didn't challenge for wins too often as the season progressed. He has been good at Auto Club in his career, though. He has finishes of 8th and 9th in 2018 and 2019. Then in 2020, he led 54 laps on finished in the top 2 in stage 1 and 2. However, he ended up 19th for that event. He did post a strong 112.1 driver rating for that event. Red flags should be going off because that 19th place finish was misleading clearly. He should had been a top 5 finisher for that event. What will he do in 2022 for this event?

18-Kyle Busch: Kyle Busch is one of those drivers that I expect to be even stronger in 2022 than he was in 2021. He was pretty damn good in 2021, too. He finished 9th in the points, but we all know he was one of the fastest drivers in the field pretty often. Bad finishes did him in the playoffs, but I think he also had struggles during the regular season where he lost valuable playoffs points because his team missed the setup too often. The lack of practice killed him more than a lot of other teams it seemed. I think he is one of those guys that will be hugely benefit from having practice and qualifying once again in 2022. Auto Club is a great track for him. He is easily one of the best drivers in the field at this 2.0 mile track. In 7 of his last 9 races at this track, he has finished in the top 3. That is just dumb! Guys, he is simply a machine at this 2.0 mile layout. Kyle Busch should be on the short-list of favorites to win this weekend!

19-Martin Truex Jr: Truex won 4 times in 2021, but he kinda was an afterthought most weeks. He was at his best on the short tracks, but he also had some very good runs on the intermediate tracks and large ovals (like Michigan), though. However, he never really challenged for any wins. Okay runs, but I never got the ''he gonna win'' vibes from him. Perhaps, he also missed practice and qualifying more than we thought? I don't think anyone ever mentioned this about him, but I think the Gibbs cars (minus Hamlin) really missed practice and qualifying. So it will be interesting, if they will improve in 2022. Auto Club isn't a very good track for Truex. So if I would personally try to avoid him until we can see him on the track. If he doesn't look legit top 3 then I say save him for another day. Especially since he will have a heavy price tag in Daily Fantasy games.

20-Christopher Bell: Bell is an interesting guy for sure! He was great at Daytona road course in 2021 and won, but he was a major disappointment after that. He only posted 6 Top 5 finishes and 15 Top 10 finishes in the next 34 races. Not terrible, but not great for a driver in Gibbs equipment. When looking at Bell finishes in the No.20 car last season, I see a lot of inconsistency in him. His 15.8 average finish would certainly back that up as well. He had some good runs on intermediate tracks, but he again struggled to be consistent. I have always said consistency brings a lot of value. Bell has the right equipment to be a great driver, but it does nothing if you can't consistently finish in the top 10. Heck, I take low teen finishes, if it came down to it. For Bell, I would probably play the wait and see approach. If he is up and down to start the season, I would avoid him. If he can start the season with some consistent finishes, then take a shot with him in a month or so from now.

22-Joey Logano: Logano had a pretty good 2021, but I felt like he was one of the drivers that certainly fell off as the season went on. Which was pretty common among the Penske cars in 2021. They just didn't have the speed to mix it up on a weekly basis with the Hendrick and Gibbs cars. Will 2022 be any difference? Well Logano got things off to a very good start with winning the Clash. How much will that mean going forward? Probably nothing, but it also could mean something. Translation? We have no freaking idea. I feel like Penske is still one of the better teams in Nascar and they should be viewed like that headed into the season. My question is will Ford be down as a whole still? It is concerning if they are. Personally, I would wait to see practice and qualifying this weekend, before making a call on Logano

23-Bubba Wallace Jr: I know many people are expecting a jump from Bubba, but those people also probably have some kind of biased agenda, though. Reality about Bubba is, he is exactly the driver that he showed us in 2021. He is that big name guy that is too inconsistent to trust most weekends and a top 15 is typically his ceiling. You may not like it, but that who Bubba likely will be once again in 2022. Personally, I wouldn't be too high on him on intermediate tracks, either. I can count the number of times that he finished in the top 15 in 2021 on any type of intermediate track with one hand. You can find better options than Bubba this weekend, I think!

24-William Byron: If I had a dark horse pick in 2022, then Byron would be my guy. We all knew how talented he was coming into cup. It took him a few years, but he seemed to finally starting to arrive at times in 2020. I thought he put the rest together in 2021. He was really good and looked like one of the top drivers in the sport, when he had the right car under him. He only won once, but he also posted 11 other top 5s and 19 top 10 finishes. His average finish of 13.6 marked a career-best through 4 seasons. He also posted career bests in top 5 finishes, top 10 finishes, average starts and laps led. Yeah, I would say he had a pretty good damn year. I think he is trending in the right direction, but put of that will be weather or not that Hendrick stays strong as they are. I would use William at any intermediate track! It is clear that he has speed advantage over a lot drivers. He also was a lot more inconsistent at other type of track. My plan would to have William on your radar this weekend and go from there.

43-Erik Jones: Erik was clearly gonna take a downstick in production, but it was a major step back and that didn't surprised me at all. In fact, I was more surprised how well he actually did overall. He ended up with 6 top 10 finishes and 19.7 average finish. In comparison to the last driver (Darrell Wallace Jr), he topped every season by Bubba. In fact, he almost matched him in top 10 finishes (total) in 1/3 of the starts. In fact, they had similar stats, even with Bubba being in a better ride. Both had 19.67 average finish, but Erik had the Top 10 advantage 6 to 3. While Bubba held the win (1 to 0) and top 5 finishes (3 to 0) over Erik. Guess my point is? Erik was still able to strive in less equipment, which speaks about the kind of talent that he is still. I think Erik will be capable on these intermediate tracks, but I think I would play the wait and see approach with him most weekends until we see practice and have some race data.

45-Kurt Busch: Kurt has been with CGR the last couple seasons, but parted ways after Chip decided to step away and sell the team to Trackhouse Racing. Kurt ended up going to 23XI as a second driver. This is a pretty new team, so I do have concerns and Kurt is getting older. It hasn't stopped him from being a quality driver in recent years, though. I really not sure what to expect out of Kurt in 2022. I think he has a chance to be the lead driver at 23XI, if he is given the right cars. He is a former champion and a proven winner, so he will have a shot to make an impact on that new organization overall. It is hard for me to guess what to expect from him, but I would say he will be a low teen driver with upside to challenge for a top 10 finish at Auto Club. This is an awesome track for him overall. He has been awesome in the past here, so I would keep tabs on him this weekend and see how he does as the weekend progresses.

48-Alex Bowman: Bowman was probably the weakest link at HMS when I think back the season overall. Not from the win department, but pretty much from every other major stat category, though. He had less top 5 finishes, top 10 finishes, average finish, average start and lap led than each of Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and William Byron. You didn't need stats to tell that Alex Bowman was usually the slowest of the 4 HMS drivers. He did win 4 races, though. Bowman is in good enough equipment to be considered for a top 10 finish, but he is good enough driver to consistently finish in the top 10, though. And that is the real difference in him and other three drivers at HMS. Unless he looks top 10 good in practice and qualifying, I would probably avoid him until we have some races under belts to make some observations

2022 Fantasy Nascar Picks (Daytona)

 Welcome to timerssports

I know a lot of sites post a lot of stuff for Daytona, but I don't like doing that. Because we can look at all the data that we want, but a strong chance all that research will be for nothing. So yeah, you can feel free to do all the extra research you want. It just takes one bad move and your entire lineup is gone. You are done, end of story. Folks, there is nothing you can do that will prepare you for the Daytona 500. I would recommend looking at drivers that have a good track record at avoiding the ''big one'' at Daytona and Talladega, though.

So below, I have made picks for the Driver Group game and my personal lineup for Fanduel. Those are likely the only two games that I will play in 2022!

Driver Group Game:

A: Denny Hamlin

Reasons - There are a lot of drivers that I could go with, but let's not be stupid. The majority will go with Hamlin and you don't want to go miss on your A-driver. I say never gamble in this tier because the gambling should always be in the B-grouping tier. Hamlin has the best numbers and if you miss with him, then most everyone else will too. Sure, you could gain a lot of points but you could also lose, too.

B:

Austin Dillon and Chris Buescher

Reasons - A lot of interesting choices for this tier, but Austin Dillon is a great choice this weekend. He has been lights out at the 500, since his rookie season. Since 2014 (rookie season), he has not finished worse than 19th in the Daytona 500. He has a knack for finishing well at this big time event. I take my chances with him here. Chris Buescher might on people radars' a lot more that he won his duel. But he did finish 31st and 40th in two Daytona races in 2021. So hopefully put too much into that. Because 4 of the last 8 Daytona races, he has finished in the top 10. He is a quality plate racer, in my opinion.

C: Corey LaJoie

Reasons - Lajoie won't be close to a popular pick, which is why I pick him every single year. Why? Well, he has finished 21st or better in his last 6 races at Daytona. Including 3 Top 10 finishes in his last 5 races here. At the Daytona 500, he has finished 8th, 9th and 18th at his last Daytona 500 races. He currently has back to back top 10 finishes at the ''Great American Race''!

Fan Duel Lineup:

Logano (starts 20th)

Almirola (starts 38th)

Hamlin (starts 30th)

Austin Dillon (starts 36th)

Gragson (starts 39th)

Reasons - If you put this lineup in, then you are likely to have 2,800 left over. Normally, that should raise some red flags. But we are going for position differential points here. I don't care how many laps you lead because there are only 200 laps. With how often the lead changes, the most laps led leader will likely only lead 20 to 40 laps. Go for guys that start further in the field because it will likely mean more in the end. And as you can see, these are also some pretty accomplished plate racers, too. 4 of these guys have won a race on this type of track. Logano and Hamlin will certainly contend up front. Almirola and Dillon will likely be there as well. Gragson is just there because he starts 39th and at his price, he will likely be a positive point getter. There some other lineups that I am gonna play with, but I think this is the safest lineup to go with, though.

2022 Fantasy Nascar Top 10 Pre-Season Rankings

 Welcome to Timerssports

Hey there everyone, I figured I would get rolling on the 2022 content and what better way to start off with some pre-season rankings. I wouldn't put too much into these rankings, but this is how I view drivers in the early going before the season. A lot of things happened last season and a lot of moving parts in the off-season happened as well. With that said, there are many questioned headed into a new season! Will Larson repeat his impressive 2021 season? Will Harvick return to victory lane? How will Keselowski do at Roush as a driver-owner? Who will fall down to earth from 2021? Who will bounce back? I am getting excited thinking about it, so let's get rolling!

1. Kyle Larson - He's the 2021 Cup champion and went to victory lane a impressive 10 times in 2021. Might be one of the most dominant seasons that we seen from any driver over the past couple decades. I think it is harder to see dominant seasons in this day and age because some teams will go into test mode after locking up a couple wins. Not with Larson, that team kept cracking the whip. If I were to start a brand new team, I would select the most talented driver in the field. Hands down his name is Kyle Larson!

2. Denny Hamlin - I say Hamlin was the most consistent driver in the field when the checkers waved in 2021 for most of the season. He seemed like he behind Larson in terms of overall performance, though. It was pretty impressive to see him bulid that huge lead on Larson. I believe it was over 100 points at one point. But Larson went on like a 7 or 8 race streak of top 2 finishes. Still, Hamlin was strong all season and ended up making to Phoenix. I personally thought he had a real shot, but he never had the speed for the 5 car and was a bit behind the 19 car as well. He should be one of the favorites in 2022, but one has to wonder if he will ever get

3. Martin Truex Jr - I don't think Truex Jr get credit for having a strong of a season as he did but Larson stole the spotlight almost on a weekly basis. However, Truex jr was in contention on a weekly basis and had the 2nd-most wins (tied with Bowman actually) among all drivers in the series. I think the Gibbs cars were behind the HMS bunch often in 2021, but they eventually caught up as the weather got warmer though. Truex was really really good and should be considered a favorite in 2022!

4. Kyle Busch - Early in 2021 season, it was pretty clear that Hendrick Motorsports was head and shoulder above the field. After that, I thought Kyle Busch consistently one of the teams showed the most speed. Him and his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates! I feel like other teams eventually caught up, but seemed like it always was a Gibbs driver or two that most often challenged the Hendrick cars. His teammate Denny Hamlin was probably just as quick most weekends, but only difference was Hamlin rarely had a bad race most of the season. In terms of speed, I didn't really think it was major difference between the 18,11 and 19. They were pretty similar in the speed department. I do feel like Kyle Busch struggled a little bit more some races because they didn't the setup just right. He one of the drivers seem to not be a beneficial of the no practice and qualifying rule

5. Joey Logano - I am not really super high on the Penske cars this season, but Logano looked awesome in the clash. I think people say that Penske had a down year, even though they put all 3 cars in victory lane at least once. I think the Penske fords started off pretty good, but they never got better like other teams did. Penske seem to always be ahead of the curve, but sometimes they don't do a good job of improving. I wouldn't be surprise if they started off really strong again.

6. Chase Elliott - I think I could easily put Elliott head of Logano and maybe one of the Gibbs cars. It is no shade at Elliott. He is one of the best drivers in the sport, but that says a lot of how deep the field is. Elliott will likely win a few races in 2022 and be in contention for the championship. However, I think Elliott is Jeff Gordon to Kyle Larson's Jimmie Johnson. If him and Larson were to stay long term at Hendrick, I think that how it would play out. I do have curiosity about if Larson and Elliott were 1A and 1B in terms of equipment, or if Larson was given the best available. If it was the latter, that would explain why Larson won 7 more races than Elliott. If it the former, then that just says how ungodly talented Kyle Larson really is. Now that Larson got his championship, I think he might get our answer on that. I say we know after about 12 races

7. William Byron - I was very high on Bryon headed into last season and he honestly blew away my expectations. He really did have his breakout season at Hendrick. There were some weeks that he struggled, but for the most part he was really strong in that 24 car. Byron was one of those highly touted prospects to come up through the ranks in recent years. William Byron seems to have finally arrived in the Cup series. Just kinds sucks he get overshadow by two of the best drivers in the sport. I think the general public, if he was on a different team

8. Kevin Harvick - Two seasons ago, Harvick won 9 times and just came up short of the championship race. Last season, he failed to reach victory lane. Will he get back to his winning ways? 99% of people would say yes, but I am gonna be bold and say no. I think Haas had a down year, but I don't think it just a one year thing, though. I think Harvick is still a good driver, but I am just not convinced that he will have the equipment to get it done. Weird to say, but could Haas be headed down the Roush path? Ford in general I am concerned about. They been good the last few years, but they are obviously a step behind Gibbs and Hendrick. I am just not convinced that Haas is back and that includes the aging Harvick

9. Ryan Blaney - Blaney is another interesting driver. Blaney will have to take one more of a leadership role in 2022 with no longer being the youngest guy there. And he hasn't been bad by any means in his career. He has been pretty good, but he has remained inconsistent with good equipment. Which is fair because he is young still. But at what point do we say that is old enough that excuse isn't valid. Being honest, Blaney is Kasey Kahne. Frankly that is a pretty good comparison. Both good but inconsistent drivers. Both won races, but nobody ever saw them as threats because they consistently get the job done. So far in his career, that pretty much to a tee what we have seen from Blaney. Will 2022 be any difference? Time will tell!

10. Christopher Bell - Quite a few drivers I considered for this final spot. Including Kurt Busch, Alex Bowman, Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick. Bell, I think has the most talent and I think he has the best equipment. I guess the equipment is debatable, but I think he could do more with it than these other guys. I think Bell has under performed so far at Gibbs and which means he will likely be the chopping block at some point like every other driver that is the 4th driver at Gibbs. Can Bell finally put it together? He certainly had his fair share of good runs, but he also probably have had just as many just good enough or bad runs as well. I think this is the year that he has to put it together. If not, I do wonder about his future. Erik Jones only got 4 years at Gibbs in Cup. Bell might share the same faith, if he dont start winning races in the next few years

Timerssports to resume operations in 2022

 Welcome to Timerssports

Good afternoon on this cold and snowy February. As many of you probably realize, I decided to simply stop operations of Timerssports back in April. Not the first time I have done that, but it probably the longest I ceased writing content. The question most of you are wondering is probably why, right? Great question! I say foremost the biggest reason was that I didn't have the motivation to write. Last April, I was working between 12 and 16 hours a day. I would be waking at 2:30 am and not returning home until at least 2-3 afternoon, if not later on some days. You do the math on that one. It didn't leave me with much time for anything else. Which meant all I had was my weekends and frankly I wanted those to myself. So the motivation wasn't there to spend half my weekend glued to my computer screen.

I say the other two reasons were I don't get paid to write up articles and time as well. I think one of the biggest reasons for success and popularity of this site is because I have never charged anyone for my content. I will ALWAYS be free to my loyal readers. Folks, I spend a lot of time on my content and sometimes that hurts because my time is valuable as well. So really all three reasons kinda tie to together. I cant promise I will have time to write up stuff every week, but I will try to make an announcement ahead of time, though.

I will say that I am pretty impressive that this website had over 1,000 pageviews over the last 6 months, despite no new content being posted in about 10 months. So what can you expect to see in terms of articles in 2022? I really couldn't say for sure. I am gonna try to post weekly race rankings for each race. I will try to post a weekly picks article, but I don't know beyond that. I think a weekly Preview and weekly update is up in the air at this point. There are still a lot of moving parts in my life, so that is hard to say what kinda content will be posted.

Anyways, it is great to be back near racing season and I am excited to get back at the grind. I do have a couple articles planned for the next couple weeks, but I don't see myself doing anything for Daytona. I usually use that week as a rest up week before getting into content on the 2nd race. So that kinda what I am thinking will look like this season as well.

Best regards,

2021 Fantasy Nascar 5 Underrated Weekend Options (MVille)

 Welcome to Timerssports

Folks, I woke up early for nothing this morning it appears. So I am going to take advantage of by doing some Fantasy Nascar content for this weekend's race at Martinsville! Hard to say when the race will be held, though. Personally, I would put some money on it being held on Sunday's afternoon! Especially with all of the rain that is expected today/tonight in the area. So we should have plenty of time to ponder our lineups, which can be very good or very bad. Personally, If I had a gut feeling on a driver, then I would stick with it! I can't tell you guys how many times I regretted a decision that I changed just before the race! And sometimes, if you don't feel a driver then he might be best to avoid.

Well here are my 5 underrated fantasy options for the weekend!

William Byron - I know a lot of people will just look at his track record and be like, ''meh''. But he have had some really awesome runs at HMS. And I feel like this is the season where he finally starts to put it together Early on, it looks like he is capable of being a solid contender in the cup series. I think it helps a lot that HMS is ahead some other teams so far this season. At Martinsville, I think Byron is slowly but surely getting a hold of this track. Once he get there. I think he has a chance to be one of the best in the series.

Bubba Wallace Jr - I am higher than most on Bubba this weekend at Martinsville! He had some good runs with RPM at Martinsville and I feel like the #23 team will benefit coming to track like this, where speed isn't the biggest factor! I also know a lot of people have judged the #23 harshly and I think that is unfair! I think they have had some speed, but the results haven't lined up with the performance. Those results will come, I promise you! This could be a good weekend to take a shot on Bubba!

Matt DiBenedetto - The last couple race, the #21 car has been really good. But they have had some bad luck. Even their twitter account has pointed that out. If they ever get some luck, I think DiBenedetto and the No.21 team can have some strong runs. His results at Martinsville in 2020 are very appealing. If you factor that with his talent and equipment, then I think you get a very solid fantasy option. However, I don't think enough people are talking about him.

Aric Almirola - SHR has clearly been down on performance in 2020 and I think Aric get the most judgement from it. Cole and Chase both get passes because they are young. And Kevin don't get judge because he has carried the organization. So there's just Aric in the middle getting belittled by fans, etc. I think it is unfair and I think it is blown out of proportion some! Clearly all of the drivers at SHR are having down seasons, but I think they are doing better than what we are led to believe. So why am I higher on Aric this weekend? He has a history of being a savvy racer on these shorter tracks. I also look back at that performance at Phoenix, where he was really good. Stated outside of the top 30 and spent some of that event in the top 10. He ended up in 11th. He was legit good for that event! I am not saying it will translate or anything, but it is encouraging, though.

Ryan Newman - Newman is having a very underrated season! He really only has a couple poor races and the rest of actually really solid. Especially over the past 5 races this season, where he has finished 4 of those races in the top 18. Including back-to-back top 13 finishes in the last two races. He is also been very good in his career at Martinsville! This is very much a Newman kinda of track overall. Don't be shocked if Newman get a low-end teen finish and maybe some more!
