RaceDay Thoughts -
Garry Briggs (@Garryy12):
- Expect the Gibbs cars to be very difficult to beat and at the front most of the night. I would be shocked to see anyone other than 18,19,20, 11 or ally 78 in victory lane tonight
-I was very surprised to see how well the CGR cars qualified (2nd and 4th). I personally think they will fade to latter part of the top 10 after awhile. But it's great to see both cars up front in qualifying, as this been a struggle in 2016. But mark my words, they have found something in the Ganassi camp. At first, I thought it was a fluke they were fast several races ago. But now, I am thinking they have definitely hit on something
-Expect a lot of green flag runs and limited cautions. That how these Richmond races have played out a lot lately it seems.
-Track position will be extremely important in tonight's race. Especially since passing will be difficult. If there is just a few laps left, I would take a driver with track position over a driver with a fast car every single time!
Matt Aleza (@MattAleza):
- The JGR cars appears to have a leg up on the comp this weekend and I expect nothing to change in tonight's race. 2 of them start inside the top 3. Not good for everyone!
-Kasey Kahne could make some noise tonight, if his team keep up with changes on his car. I like his chances. He was my sleeper last week and could surprise people again
-I think Kevin Harvick will be very strong tonight and be a heavy contender, despite starting deeper in the field than I would like
-If you stay at the front, then you should be in good shape. The drivers who get stuck mid-pack are the ones you have worry about
Yahoo Lineups -
