Fantasy Nascar Picks (Pocono)

Welcome to TimersSports

Fantasy Nascar Picks are never easy to make for any racetrack with everything that needs to be factored in. But at Pocono, everything get taken up a notch. Especially since this a known fuel-mileage racetrack, like we saw last August. With that being said, Pocono is also a track that requires a lot of horsepower. So you know the top Nascar teams will be up front contending for the win. From a fantasy perspective, it puts you in a difficult situation. Do you try to go with some off-sequence picks because of the fuel-mileage factor or do you go with the typical choices? I personally think a good combination of both would be ideal. But that would depend on what are the rules of your fantasy league though. Pocono isn't similar to any other racetrack that we have visited, it most similar track is Indy (another 2.5 mile flat track). So we will have to depend solely on past stats and of course common knowledge as well. Okay so let's get started!

**This page will be updated throughout the weekend, if/when I make changes

Yahoo -

Start - Kevin Harvick (6)

Bench - Jimmie Johnson (6)

Reasons - Tough decision this week between Harvick and Johnson, I think both of them are fairly close to one another. Based on what I already know, I would say they'll finish about 1 or maybe 2 positions apart. Both were fast in practice, but going with Johnson because I have a feeling I will need Harvick down the stench more than Johnson. Not only that, but this is a strategy race and I trust the 48 pit crew more to deliver.

B:

Start - Ryan Newman (6), Kyle Larson (7)

Bench - Austin Dillon (6), Martin Truex Jr (4)

Reasons - This is a tough week to make decisions with all the rain, limited practice and a strategy-known racetrack. Pocono always seems to be a place that makes it difficult to make fantasy picks for. So who do roll with in this tier. Newman stands out because of his consistency at this track over the years, he been circled on my radar for weeks to be used here. With 6 starts left, I feel like this is a good week to employ. The final decision was either Kyle Larson or Austin Dillon, I have decided to go with Kyle Larson. Going with Larson is the obvious choice. He has a lot of momentum and it been a great racetrack for him so far. This also been a great racetrack for Dillon, but been inconsistent outside of the 1.5 mile racetrack this season. Might be a good week to give him a rest, if you have Larson and Newman to choose from.

C:

Start - Ryan Blaney (6)

Bench - Chase Elliott (5)

Reasons - I made a mistake by forgetting to add Ty Dillon to my lineup on Thursday, but him looking like junk in practice makes it easier now for me. I feel good about both Blaney and Elliott. Elliott, I feel like have a higher upside because of his skillset/equipment. But I feel like Blaney had a better car in practice and also feel like this is a place that he could shine out. Would I use Ty Dillon, if I had him available? Great question, I would if I committed to the start-save strategy or if I was high in the point standings.
