Fantasy Nascar Post-Practice Sleepers (Pocono)

Welcome to TimersSports

We could be in for a very long weekend at Pocono with a unfavorable forecast predicted for Sunday's race. Even if we somehow get the race in, Pocono is known for wild pit strategies and late race gambles. Which typically wad up the running order and makes fantasy nascar lineups a mess to deal with. You know what that sounds like to me? A perfect chance to use some fantasy nascar sleepers! If you are wanting to get off-sequence at a big, fast racetrack than I cannot think of a better one than Pocono. This place is a ideal place to get a little fancy and take some gambles. Below I listed some of the sleepers I like after practice and qualifying. Grab your snacks and let's go!

Sleepers -

Kyle Larson - I am pretty big Larson fan, so I may be a little biased when it comes to him but I really do think he is getting close to winning his first Cup race. Heck that not even me being bias, this is the opinion of many in the Nascar community. As for this weekend, Larson should be a top 10 to top 15 driver with possible top 5 upside. But I would say that is unrealistic to expect though. His history says, he will finish inside the top 12, but more than likely inside the top 10. I believe Larson will make his way through the field and settle in somewhere in the high single digitals. I think weather he contends for the win will depend on how well Chad Johnston and the 42 team can improve Kyle's car. On that note, Johnston have done a really good job of making the 42 car better during race over the past month or so.

Paul Menard - Say hello to my old friend, Mr. Paul Menard. Haven't mentioned him much at all this season, with only one top 10 finish all season (Martinsville). However he have an chance to make that change at Pocono though. The No.27 car was fast on Friday and continued to show speed in the final practice on late Saturday morning. Can he keep it up on raceday? That's the million dollar question. I personally don't think he will finish inside the top 10, since his teammates typically don't on an average race weekend. However I very well have higher hopes for the 27 car than usual. Epsiclaly since Paul have a history of running well here since joining RCR. He have had a lot of bad luck here as well that deflates his track record. Seriously folks, Menard is a pretty good driver at Pocono. But his luck have sucked really bad! June 2013, he running solid inside the top 20 and he had a flat tire on the final lap. He get involved in a wreck in August 2013. He comes back in June 2014 and just wasn't competitive overall. In August 2014, he was involved in a huge wreck and finished outside of the top 30. Then he comes to Pocono last season and finished 31st after multiple pit road penalties and flat tires. Then last August, he finally breaks through and have a decent 11th-place finish. Honestly I am not sure what more impressive: The amount of bad luck Menard have lately at Pocono or the fact that I could recall all of those races off top of my head? I say they're equal!

Austin Dillon - I thought about adding AJ Dinger to my sleeper list instead of Austin Dillon, but my gut been telling me all week that Dillon will have a very good race at Pocono. So I will listen to my gut and stick to my original gut feeling. Dillon have been good in his first 4 career starts here and have finished 16th or better every time. Dillon have found good deal of success in 2016, which should only padded the reason why we should be heavily considering him as a legit fantasy option. In practice, he showed flashes of speed but it hard to say what he really has since he didn't make any runs long enough. Knowing, Dillon he will least have a top 15 car under him when we go green at Pocono. I don't think Dillon will contend for a top 5 or top 10 finish, but I definitely see an top 15 finish in his near future. Trust the 3 car and roll with him, given you are looking for a solid mid-teen finisher.
