2017 Fantasy Nascar Picks (Atlanta)

Welcome to TimersSports

Alright Daytona wasn't very kind most of us. That's always a bummer no doubt, I hate starting the season off on the wrong foot. With that said, we have a chance to rebound at Atlanta. I love this place! I grew up in Atlanta, I consider it my home racetrack. I lived in the area and attended every race from 2006 to 2014. I miss going every year and would kill to go back! This is a fun 1.5 worn out racetrack. You can pass at this track which makes it fun for us fantasy nascar folks. As you aren't forced to start drivers on track position. However, they plan to redo the surface after the completion of this race on Sunday. So this will be the final race on this surface. Like all good things, it must eventually come to an end. Anyhow, let's get to today's picks!

Yahoo -

A:

Start - Joey Logano (9)

Bench - Jimmie Johnson (9)

Reasons - My big mistake this week, I didn't really do enough thinking when setting my lineup. Yeah, it sucks. I should had went with Harvick or Keselowski to be paired with Johnson or Logano. I didn't so oh well then. I still really like the Logano pick. He's fast, along with his teammate Keselowski. So I am going with Logano over Johnson. I would like to go with Johnson, but I am playing it safe overall.

B:

Start - Chase Elliott (9), Ryan Newman (9)

Bench - Ryan Blaney (9) and Kasey Kahne (9)

Reasons - Pretty easy choices overall. Elliott and Newman looks like the best two choices this weekend in this grouping tier. I love Elliott, he was very fast in final practice. Solid long run speed, too. Newman looks top 10 all weekend and we don't usually see that out of him in practice. Hopefully that is a good sign. Beyond that, I like the 17 and 47 as legit sleepers.

C:

Start - Ty Dillon (9)

Bench - Erik Jones (9)

Reasons - I am going with Ty Dillon over Erik Jones because well expereince. I know what to expect out of Jones. I will save Jones for Vegas and beyond. I want to see what Jones has to offer during the race in the #77 car.

Fantasy Live - 48,4,5,95 and 13

Reasons - I am a big believer in Kevin Harvick and think he will lead a lot of laps on Sunday! I am expecting 100+ laps led. So I will bulid my team around him. So now, I need a driver that will contend for the win that starting mid-pack. How about Jimmie Johnson? Starting 18th and should move up 13 spots. I like that! My 3rd driver could be a driver that starts up front, but that would mean I would have to roll with a field-filler. Instead, I am going with Kasey Kahne. He is starting 29th and should move up about 14 to 16 spots. I will take that for $22.00. Then I will round out my team with McDowell and Dillon.  McDowell starts 36th and shown speed this weekend. I like that! Dillon is just a value play for a value price. If I had to make a change it would be having a 3rd driver that would contend for the win. I cannot without rebuilding my lineup.

Sleeper - Ricky Stenhouse Jr

Reasons - Ricky Stenhouse Jr has looked good this weekend. Qualified 4th and ran well here last year. He finished 10th and had a top 10 car for that event. This weekend, he has looked pretty good. At end of final practice, he said that she is pretty sporty.

Winner - Kevin Harvick
